The island of St. Croix is split into 11 quarters.
This quarter encompasses the historic town of Christiansted and all of the National Park Service facilities and attractions, including five preserved historic structures: Fort Christiansvaern (1738), the Danish West India & Guinea Company Warehouse (1749), the Steeple Building (1753), Danish Custom House (1844), and the Scale House (1856). There is a beautiful walking tour that takes you through these and many other attractions in the town. Hotel on the Cay is located in Christiansted Harbor and is easily accessible by a small ferry. The northern section of Christiansted along the waterfront is primarily business while the southern area that continues up a hill is mostly residential.
This quarter surrounds Christiansted quarter on all sides and continues the width of the island to the south shore. There are several condominium complexes located along the waterfront just west of Christiansted. Other significant landmarks include: Golden Rock Shopping Center, A to Z Academy, Beeston Hill Medical Center, Beeston Hill Tennis Club and Five Corners intersection. The landscape starting with this quarter becomes lusher and more “forest like” as compared to the more eastern quarters and the topography is a mix of flat and moderate hills.

The Divi Hotel and Casino is also located in this quarter on the waterfront in Estate Grapetree. Buck Island National Park is located one mile directly north of this area. This is the driest part of the island and the landscape tends to be more desert-like than the rest of the island. You’ll see many varieties of cacti, yucca, and other succulents spotted around the hills.
This waterfront quarter encompasses the historic town of Frederiksted on the west end of St. Croix. Similar to Christiansted, Frederiksted is a mix of residential and commercial properties in a town setting.
